Eagles Free Agent Needs After the 2020 NFL Draft

So, the Philadelphia Eagles had an interesting NFL Draft, huh? The fan base wasn't exactly sold on the team taking wide receiver Jalen Reagor in the first round and were only more frustrated after selecting Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second. Even after the shaky start to the draft, the Eagles redeemed themselves with some quality selections in the later rounds.

Philly still have some positions that need addressing ahead of training camp, and these three stand out as the most glaring.

3. Linebacker

If the Eagles weren't going to take a wideout with their first-round selection, the overwhelming belief was that they would select a linebacker. That obviously didn't happen, but they drafted two in Colorado's Davian Taylor and Temple's Shaun Bradley. Taylor is projected to crack the Eagles starting lineup, but there's not much talent in their current linebacking corps. The Eagles need to look at the linebackers on the open market if they want to compete with the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East crown. This current group isn't capable of making an impact.

2. Running Back

When looking at the Eagles' run to Super Bowl LII, they had a tremendous rushing attack that mixed power with speed. Entering the 2020 season, the Eagles running back depth chart consists of Miles Sanders and Boston Scott. That's pretty weak when compared to the likes of the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs, who both made the Super Bowl this past season. The Eagles need to add more rushers in the backfield if they want to lift the weight off the shoulders of quarterback Carson Wentz.

1. Defensive End

You can't have much success in the NFL without a quality pass rush. The Eagles possessed just that for the past couple of years, but as of now, Philadelphia boasts Derek Barnett and Brandon Graham as the only quality defensive ends on the roster. If the Eagles want to make the playoffs, they have to be able to get to the opposing quarterback. With names like Everson Griffen and Markus Golden available on the open market, it wouldn't behoove general manager Howie Roseman from bringing in some reinforcements off the edge.
