The New York Yankees are still conducting their search to replace longtime pitching coach Larry Rothschild, whom they parted ways with earlier in the week after nearly a decade together.

If you thought that the club's braintrust would be looking into individuals with primary MLB experience on their resume, well, think again.

The Yankees are evidently prioritizing appointing a college pitching coach to replace Rothschild. In fact, they've even approached TCU's Kirk Saarloos and Arizona's Nate Yeskie, though both declined to be interviewed.

If that wasn't enough to convince you, this report comes days after it was publicized that the Bombers interviewed Michigan pitching coach Chris Fetter, an individual many baseball pundits believe to be a rising star in the industry, for the position.

In addition, Arkansas' Matt Hobbs was reportedly brought in for a consultation, though the specific date of that meeting isn't all that clear.

It has not yet been disclosed if the Yankees have interviewed any more potential candidates, but their blueprint is quite apparent -- they are enamored with hiring a hot commodity within the NCAA ranks.

Stay tuned for further updates on the Pinstripes' pursuit as talks are clearly heating up heading into the weekend.
