While reports swirled last week Joe Girardi might try and lure Larry Rothschild away from New York to head to Philadelphia, it looks like the Yankees are making things easy for him.

According to MLB insider Joel Sherman, the Yanks are moving on from the veteran pitching coach and will bring in a fresh face. Yup, Rothschild has donned pinstripes for the last time.

Fans had been clamoring for this given the fact so many pitchers struggled, regressed, or went elsewhere only to have more success (i.e. Sonny Gray).

The 65-year-old Rothschild had been with the Yankees since 2011, signing a three-year deal before the campaign got underway. He landed with the Bronx Bombers after spending nine seasons with the Cubs. He signed a one-year deal to stay with the club in 2019, so he wasn't under contract after this year.

It goes without saying, but Girardi and Rothschild are quite close, which is why believe there will be a reunion next season.

For Aaron Boone and NY, it no doubt had to be a tough decision to let him go, but things will certainly be different for New York next season. CC Sabathia is retiring and the team is expected to go after some big-name starter free agents this offseason. With Aroldis Chapman potentially opting out and leaving town as well, the Yankees pitching staff could truly have a completely new look.

With the 2019 MLB season about to come to a close, we could find out soon who New York decides to bring in to replace Rothschild.
