Toronto Local News Coverage of Kawhi Leonard's Raptors Visit is Insanely Over-the-Top

Listen, Toronto, I get it. You're officially in #KawhiWatch mode.

Yes, you got your guy. He took you from unending postseason disappointment to the promised land of basketball, and he did it in one season. And I get that hearing rumors about him leaving for Los Angeles is tough. But for the love of God, can you take it down a notch and let the man breathe? Well, according to the CP24 live feed, no!

Is Kawhi Leonard a Finals MVP or an international criminal? Seriously, the local media establishment in the Six has officially lost it. Tracking planes at Pearson Airport? Using freaking helicopters to follow SUVs on the highway like they're OJ Simpson's Bronco? Please.

This is over-the-top. It's nuts.

It's also kind of amazing. Sounds like the man really is in town, and he's headed to meet with Masai Ujiri and Co. downtown.

Journalists have a job to do -- informing the public on current events and keeping people in the loop. But there's a fine line between incisive journalism and... whatever this is. A more focused, measured effort would have probably served better here as opposed to this exhaustive approach.

Take a look at what's going outside the hotel where we think Kawhi's meeting with Raptors brass could be. It's truly special stuff.

We thought it was unnecessary when a construction worker yelled at Manny Machado to "get that bag" on his way into his meeting with the Philadelphia Phillies. This is on a completely different level.

Toronto, I understand that you feel this undying connection to Kawhi because of where he brought you last season. But this is a guy that values privacy, doesn't like to talk, and prefers simply going about his business.

Do you really think this is going to help?
