Tim Tebow is Getting Absolutely Roasted on Twitter for His Ridiculous NCAA Take About Getting Paid
By Chris Pyo

Tim Tebow went on ESPN's First Take with Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman to give his take on the Fair Pay to Play Act that would allow college athletes to be paid for the use of their name, image and likeness. Suffice to say, he turned a lot of heads with his comments.
A lot of those turned heads shredded Tebow's take to pieces on Twitter. Tebow passionately stated that he disagrees with the piece of legislation, saying that if college athletes were to be paid, it would change "what's special about college football."
Let's check in on those responses.
The sports & entertainment ecosystem that protected and nurtured a post-playing Tebow isn't going to be there for the overwhelming majority of major college athletes who come from less privileged circumstances. Tim should know that. https://t.co/9Qse6seyjM

That's a well-worded rebuke of Tebow from Ian O'Connor. Any others?
I couldn’t disagree more. As much as I get & respect Tebow’s position, it’s based on his reality growing up - not the majority of kids playing revenue sports in NCAA.

Think about this - California politicians voted unanimously on this. Nothing is unanimous these days. https://t.co/rvuU0PgOH7
Yikes.
Jay Bilas on Tebow’s NCAA comments: “Tim could choose to work for free at ESPN, if he wants to. That doesn’t mean I should work for free. An individual choice does not justify the policy.” https://t.co/GsAU5HvlJY

Even Darren Rovell took him to the woodshed:
When Tim Tebow made his famous “I promise” speech, he wasn’t wearing Gators Nike gear, he was wearing a T-shirt with the future logo of his business arm, XV Enterprises. Makes what he said today seem hypocritical. pic.twitter.com/ySchLuDC4T

Those were all pretty professional responses from pundits in the sports world. I wonder if there are any current and former players who heard Tebow's take...
"Yeah ... this ain't it"

Plenty more!
You trippin Tim Tebow https://t.co/zYWyI51IEo pic.twitter.com/OFRc4DZINI

Yup, it's never good when Dez Bryant comes at you with a screenshot from his Notes app on his iPhone.
But this might be the best take yet...
Once student athletes are finally compensated equitably for the billions of dollars they generate, the NCAA should make sure to include an “opt out” clause for student athletes like Tim, who for personal reasons would rather not be compensated for the billions they generate...? https://t.co/Z8rxqmpA4f

Finally, let's see how the fans are doing...
For four seasons, Tim Tebow has taken a spot that could have been used by an actual professional baseball player as he pursues an absurd vanity project. He has a helluva nerve calling anyone else selfish.
— Justin McGuire (@JMcGuireMLB) September 14, 2019
Oof. That's not good.
Tim Tebow has played professional football and professional baseball like a guy who doesn’t want to get paid so I at least respect the consistency

And finally:
I had to watch Tim Tebow airmail 5 yard slants for multiple seasons I don’t want to hear what he gotta say https://t.co/deW9xwubYj

Tebow probably should've thought this one out more before going on First Take and unloading. He probably could've never imagined a level of backlash against his words to this extent. Now we'll see how he deals with it.
