As we inch closer to the start of regular season baseball on March 26, MLB teams are beginning to make Spring Training cuts that help bring their Opening Day rosters into clearer focus.

The Boston Red Sox reassigned 15 players to minor league camps Sunday, and some of their top prospects were included in the cuts.

Among the cuts were third baseman Bobby Dalbec and right-handed pitcher Tanner Houck, considered Boston's No. 2 and 6 prospects, respectively.

Dalbec is known for his bat speed and power, but hit a dismal .227 with just one home run this spring in the Grapefruit Leage. With a chance to crack the Red Sox major league roster in a bullpen role, Houck allowed five earned runs over 6.1 innings pitched in two starts and one relief appearance this spring.

In addition to Dalbec and Houck, Boston also cut the pair of prospects – Jeter Downs and Connor Wong – that came over from Los Angeles in the Mookie Betts-David Price trade. The Red Sox are opting to keep their young talent in the farm system for now, but don't be surprised if they make their major-league debuts as Boston's first regular season call-ups.
