McGregor vs Masvidal is the Fight UFC Fans Deserve

After UFC star Jorge Masvidal called out Connor McGregor on the Dan Le Batard Show, everyone has been speculating a potential matchup between the two. Although there has been no official fight scheduled, it must be on the horizon since Masvidal said he'd only fight McGregor or Kamaru Usman next.

Some have questioned whether or not the fight would be a good move for McGregor, who at this point in his career might've lost a step, but it is certainly the fight that UFC fans deserve.

We haven't seen McGregor in the octagon since the infamous post-fight mayhem in Vegas against Khabib Nurmagomedov in UFC-229.

His suspension has been served and he is now permitted to fight once again. However, we still don't know when his next fight will take place and whether or not he'll accept Masvidal's challenge. For McGregor, it has to gain him the right financial output, or else he's simply risking his reputation for nothing.

Masvidal, on the other hand, is riding on a major hot streak after earning the fastest knock out in UFC history with a flying knee against Ben Askren. While there's so much buzz around him, Masvidal is wise to try and attract one of the sport's biggest personalities. It can only benefit him.

Coming off such an insane win, it makes sense that Masvidal is gunning for the best as his next opponent.

Even if this fight never comes to fruition, it's a dream for any and all UFC fans. We are all desperately waiting to see McGregor fight once again, and after seeing what Masvidal can do in just five seconds, who wouldn't want to watch these two in the octagon?
