It was inevitable, and now it's official.

Over the weekend, a report broke that the NCAA was preparing to promulgate a series of significant allegations against the Kansas Jayhawks' basketball program.

Well, on Monday, their intentions were revealed, as KU has been hit with three Level 1 violations -- the most extreme in the NCAA's rulebook. Per Yahoo Sports , the outlet that broke the story, Hall of Famer Bill Self has been dealt a head coach responsibility charge and the program itself has been arraigned on "lack of institutional control.

The Level 1 breaches are relevant to the past recruitments of Silvio De Sousa and Billy Preston.

Preston, a top ten recruit in 2017, didn't even appear in a game for the Jayhawks as the NCAA conducted an investigation into a car accident he was involved in and he ultimately left the school as news started to break about his insufficient enrollment. De Sousa, on the other hand, sat out the entirety of his sophomore year in 2018 as the NCAA inquired about his shady recruitment dilemma.

Former Adidas consultant TJ Gassnola allegedly offered to pay close to $100,000 to Preston's mother in order to persuade him to become a Jayhawk.

Gassnola also testified in court that he compensated De Sousa's guardians close to $3,000. Self is said to have communicated to Gassnola via text message to approve of these transactions.

It's certainly not a good look, and the apparent evidence makes it that much worse. However, this is a developing story and we will provide more details once they are made available.
