Joe Flacco Talks About Possibility of Signing With Eagles and it Could Actually Be a Great Move for Philly
By Jerry Trotta

The Philadelphia Eagles have the luxury of deploying one of the NFL's best quarterbacks in Carson Wentz. However, it would be impossible to deny that there's growing concern about the 27-year-old's fragility.
Fans in the City of Brotherly Love can't help but hold their breath each time Wentz takes a hit and crashes to the turf. That's exactly why the Eagles need to invest in a reliable backup.
Luckily for them, one particular free agent gunslinger, Joe Flacco, came pretty darn close to offering his services to Philly.

Honestly, we don't hate the idea.
As of this writing, the Eagles have Nate Sudfeld and Kyle Lauletta behind Wentz on the depth chart. The former has appeared in just three games for Philly while serving as Wentz's backup.
The latter, meanwhile, has attempted just five passes in his NFL career. He also has glaring disciplinary issues. As a rookie with the New York Giants in 2018, Lauletta was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, eluding police, obstructing administration of law, and reckless driving after blowing through an illegal turn.
People forget how elite quarterback Joe Flacco was

That's...not going to cut it for a team with playoff aspirations.
There's no doubting that Flacco was brutal for Denver last year, but he's a far better option than Sudfeld or Lauletta. The 35-year-old vet has a Super Bowl ring and still boasts a strong enough arm to be a viable second stringer. And he can provide valuable Super Bowl-winning experience in the quarterbacks room!
Flacco won't inspire much confidence, but his experience and backup abilities would be invaluable to the Eagles.
