4-star cornerback Tayvion Land was the highest-rated recruit that Liberty University had ever signed. But the relationship has officially reached its end after one year.

On Monday, Land released a statement through his official Twitter account to let it be known that he's transferring due to the "racial insensitivity" displayed by the school's leadership.

"Unfortunately, due to the racial insensitivity displayed by leadership at Liberty University, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal and no longer be a student-athlete at Liberty University," Land wrote. "I pray that I am able to be provided with (an) opportunity at a new school that respects my culture and provides a comfortable environment."

As a recruit out of Virginia Beach, Land was highly sought after by SEC programs, with Florida, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee. Land opted to choose Liberty because he'd earn a huge role on their defense.

Through nine games in his freshman season, Land recorded 23 total tackles, one forced fumble, and 0.5 sacks.

Land was expected to be a starting corner for the Flames his sophomore year alongside Kei'Trel Clark, who also announced he's leaving the university for similar reasons. Liberty women's basketball player Asia Todd entered the transfer portal earlier this month, citing racial insensitivity as her reasoning.

If Liberty leadership doesn't change their ways, they can expect many more student-athletes to leave the university.
