A former team doctor is suing Penn State and football head coach James Franklin, claiming that Franklin had pressured him into clearing injured players to return.

Dr. Scott Lynch was the team's Orthopedic Physician until March, and claims he was replaced as punishment for complaining to team officials about Franklin.

In a summer where Andrew Luck and Kevin Durant have made major headlines regarding injury, this is not a good look for Penn State. The university claimed that they wanted an orthopedist in State College rather than Hershey -- where Lynch operates from -- as reason for the dismissal.

If Lynch was simply doing his job and looking out for the athletes' best interest, it's hard to see the harm in that.

Penn State finished with a 9-4 record last season, and even lost some recruits to Big Ten rival, Ohio State. The upcoming NCAA Football season will be Franklin's sixth as head coach, and it'll be interesting to see how the controversy affects the team going forward.
