It's really OK if you're still struggling to come to terms with the fact that Kevin Durant is now a Brooklyn Net. We are too.

But, as the idea of the two-time Finals MVP wearing black and white and calling the Barclays Center his home for the next four years begins to grow on us, we're beginning to ponder why KD elected to spurn the Golden State Warriors, considering the mammoth contract they offered him and that the Dubs lost to the Raptors without him (he could've had the opportunity to be the hero if he stayed).

Well, if you take a step off the ledge and dissect the 2018-2019 season as whole, Durant's decision to book it for the east coast is clear as day.

Most recently, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith said that Kevin and head coach Steve Kerr didn't have a great relationship. Would you want to play for a widely recognized players' head coach that can't get along with you?

Next up is the report by ESPN's Marc J. Spears which claimed that a source close to Durant revealed that the 10-time All-Star felt a "lack of respect" amongst his teammates throughout his three-year stay in the Bay Area.

As Kendrick Perkins points out, Draymond unleashing on Durant back in November ultimately proved to be crucial in the Slim Reaper's decision. As we know, Green uttered something similar to, "We don't need you. We won without you."

Of course, Durant famously replied, "That's why I'm out," thereby fueling the rumors that his days in Oakland were numbered.

The answers were there staring us right in the face all along. We just never actually thought KD would be willing to leave the Warriors dynasty and chase a championship on his own terms. Well, he's in Brooklyn now. And it's all thanks to Golden State's lack of self-awareness.
