Why did NBA superstar Kevin Durant leave the Golden State Warriors and sign a four-year max contract with the Brooklyn Nets? He would've made way more money staying in the Bay Area, and it's not a bad thing to play with stars like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, giving him a better chance to win another title.

According to someone close to Durant, via NBA insider Marc Spears, he felt a "lack of respect" and dealt with too much drama over the past year, leading to his departure.

“It was time for him to leave Golden State,” former teammate Kendrick Perkins told The Undefeated. “They were taking him for granted.”

To Durant's credit, he put his career on the line when he came back too soon for Game 5 of the NBA Finals, during which he injured his Achilles and will be out for the 2019-2020 season.

On top of that, Durant was never going to be the face of the franchise despite unquestionable leading the Warriors to back-to-back titles and winning back-to-back Finals MVPs.

Curry was and will always be the gem of that city and franchise, and how could we forget about Durant's confrontation with Draymond Green? I'm sure there's more that we don't know about, but what it came down to is that Durant didn't feel loved and respected enough by the people associated with that franchise.
