Despite missing out on both Kevin Durant and Jimmy Butler, the Los Angeles Clippers didn't go home empty-handed on Sunday in the first day of NBA Free Agency.

Los Angeles is still very much in the running for Kawhi Leonard, and will likely now sell him on the fact that he could be the face of his own team, similar to the setup he grew accustomed to in Toronto. LA took the first step in securing that vision late Sunday night by re-signing point guard Patrick Beverley to a three-year contract.

Beverley proved especially pesky in the Clippers first-round series against the Golden State Warriors, helping Los Angeles push the Warriors to six games and frustrate Kevin Durant in the process. Bev's defensive prowess, along with his rapidly-improving outside shooting, make him an attractive asset to just about any team in need of guard help.

Beverley averaged 7.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists last season in 27.4 minutes of action.

With Lou Williams and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander still in tow, the Clippers have one of the best group of guards in the Western Conference. Now if they can just add one Leonard to the mix, they'll be title contenders.
