3 Bold Predictions For Clemson vs Virginia ACC Championship Game

Bronco Mendenhall and Virginia escaped from the disorganized mess that is the ACC Coastal and secured a berth in the conference title game. The only issue, of course, is the fact that they now have to face Trevor Lawrence and an unbeaten Clemson team that is poised to snag one of the four spots in the College Football Playoff. Virginia needs a miracle to take down the juggernaut that is Clemson, but anything can happen on conference championship weekend.

3. Bryce Perkins Records 200 Yards Passing and 100 Yards Rushing

Perkins was facing a Bud Foster defense that wasn't even allowing POINTS, let alone touchdowns, and he carved that unit up every which way. Perkins threw for 311 yards and a touchdown while adding 164 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Facing a Clemson defense with future NFL starters at all three levels is going to make life hard on the Cavaliers, but Perkins has enough playmaking ability to bust off a big play or two against the Tigers.

2. Isaiah Simmons And the Clemson Defense Force Four Turnovers

The offense gets most of the publicity, and deservedly so, but Simmons and the Clemson defense have been all but impenetrable despite lacking a terrific pass rush this season. Their main skill is pure speed, as they flock to ball carriers and shut down throwing lanes at the snap of a finger. Perkins might be a tremendous talent, but Virginia's running backs and wide receivers could be outmatched by the Tigers, and that Virginia offense could be in for a long evening.

1. Trevor Lawrence Leads Clemson to a Three-Touchdown Win

After struggling in the first part of the season, Lawrence found his groove, and is playing just as well as he was during last year's championship campaign, if not more so. The Tigers have scored at least 38 points in each of their last seven games, and they haven't allowed more than 14 in one game in that span. That recent form doesn't bode well for Virginia, as Clemson is expected to breeze right by them and win the ACC once again.
