6 MLB Beefs We'd Love to See Turn Into Brawls in 2020

The 2020 MLB season promises to be among the most captivating in recent memory, as the amount of interpersonal rivalries that have cropped up in recent years could make fans tune in for reasons other than the score at the end of the game. These six beefs are still ongoing, and they are so volatile that the two participants could easily resort to fisticuffs (or at the very least, antagonistic tweets) at some point during the season.

6. Adam Eaton vs Todd Frazier

This is easily one of the most puzzling beefs on this list. Eaton and Frazier do not like each other at all, and it all supposedly stems from Frazier calling his former White Sox teammate Eaton a "phony" back in 2016, which isn't exactly the strongest possible insult in the world. The two might be in different leagues, but hopefully a trade and favorable scheduling allows these two to meet up once again. The sparks are sure to fly.

5. Christian Yelich vs Yu Darvish

Yelich's Milwaukee Brewers were once (it seems!) falsely accused of sign stealing by internet sleuths looking to figure out why Yelich would look towards the bullpen during at-bats against Yu Darvish. When the Chicago Cubs pitcher called him out, Yelich roasted him on Twitter in response. These two will get very familiar with each other over the course of their respective teams' 18 meetings this season, and we should expect at least one beanball from Darvish.

4. Madison Bumgarner vs Yasiel Puig

Bumgarner is a no-nonsense, country guy from North Carolina that is tougher than a two dollar steak, while Puig is a flashy, international star with a flair for showmanship. The duo's personalities are like oil and water, which has led to some memorable confrontations during Puig's stints as a Dodger and Red and Bumgarner's tenure as a Giant. With Bumgarner in Arizona and Puig not yet decided on his destination, tempers are sure to flare if these two get to face off once again. Somebody sign Puig, dammit! Not you, Arizona.

3. Kris Bryant vs the St. Louis Cardinals

By virtue of being a star on the Cubs, Bryant was already in the crosshairs of St,. Louis Cardinals fans. He really stoked the fire last season at a sit-down with Ryan Dempster, where he called playing in St. Louis "boring." Cardinals fans let him hear it, but no further action was taken by the team beyond letting him endure the boos. That could change in 2020, especially if Bryant doesn't walk back his comments.

2. Trevor Bauer vs Alex Bregman

Bauer has made it known that he is no friend of the Astros, but Bregman in particular has been on Bauer's mind for some time. After eight innings of one-run ball last season, Bauer claimed that he "dominated" the Astros before Bregman and the Astros flashed their championship in his face. After accusing the Astros of using foreign substances to improve spin rates on their pitches, Bregman claimed that "the World Series balls spin a bit differently." This beef would have been alive in 2020 no matter what, but the sign-stealing scandal kicked this feud into overdrive. Can we please get Bauer traded to the Yankees by September?! It would be nice. Otherwise, we'll be waiting around for a Reds-Astros World Series (which Cincy seems to think is possible).

1. Mike Fiers vs Anyone on the Houston Astros

It was Fiers' testimony that blew the lid off of the scandal that cost AJ Hinch and Jeff Luhnow their jobs after Houston's systemic sign-stealing operation was made public knowledge. Fiers can't exactly run and hide from the 'Stros, as the Oakland Athletics pitcher will give him his fair share of chances to pitch against Houston. Fiers has been very gracious throughout this whole ordeal, but a spiteful fastball right in Jose Altuve's back would set Twitter ablaze.
