3 Veteran Cowboys Who Should Be Cut Entering Training Camp

The Dallas Cowboys have plenty of drama surrounding them heading into training camp this year. Ezekiel Elliott's contract situation is up in the air, something that doesn't bode well for their offense in 2019 and beyond, and the team rather abruptly decided to cut Allen Hurns before the 2019 season got underway. But outside of Elliott and Hurns, there's a few other moves they need to make, specifically cutting these veteran players.

1. Tyrone Crawford

Crawford has been a quality member of the defensive line for six years in Dallas. However, the former third-round draft pick is facing a possible suspension to start the upcoming season. With the team flush with talent at defensive end in the likes of DeMarcus Lawrence and Robert Quinn, it wouldn't hurt the Cowboys to show Crawford the door as training camp gets underway.

2. Christian Covington

The Cowboys' depth on the defensive line makes Covington, like Crawford, extremely expendable. He signed on with Dallas on a one-year, $2.5 million in the offseason, but there's simply too much talent at defensive tackle for the Cowboys to keep everyone. He's produced just 7.5 sacks in his four years in the NFL, and considering Covington is on such a short deal, it might be best to just give him the boot.

3. La'el Collins

The Cowboys have offensive line depth in spades. The only reason it struggled last year was because of an unprecedented amount of injuries to guys like Travis Frederick and Tyron Smith. Collins has always shown upside, but he struggled mightily in 2018, and the Cowboys would be better off cutting him. He poses a massive financial burden that quite frankly isn't worth it.
