With the NFL season officially here and teams reporting to respective training camps, there will naturally be the inevitable camp holdouts who dominate headlines in July and August.

For the Dallas Cowboys, camp is set to get started on Friday. The big question on all our minds... Will Zeke show up?

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has sparked plenty of controversy this offseason, and we'll find out Friday if he'll put all of that to rest or if he plans on holding out in hopes of a contract extension. According to head coach Jason Garrett, though, we should expect to see Elliott at the practice field in Oxnard.

Dallas exercised the fifth-year option on Elliott's deal in April, meaning the organization has him under contract through the 2020 season. However, with running backs like Todd Gurley and Le'Veon Bell signing huge contracts in the past couple offseasons, Elliott may consider holding out to try to get the financial security he feels he deserves prior to this year.

For the Cowboys, this would be an unfortunate development, as they have many decisions to make in the upcoming year or so. If Elliott forces the team's hand, it would put them in a very difficult spot as they also negotiate with quarterback Dak Prescott on his own extension.

Elliott is undoubtedly one of the league's top running backs, but there are a lot of questions surrounding the position's value and the success rate of giving backs big second contracts. Beyond that, it remains to be seen whether Elliott can mature enough to avoid off-field trouble and be a team leader.

For now, Cowboys fans will latch their hopes onto Garrett's words and hope that Elliott shows up to camp, making him next year's problem.
