The Kansas City Royals are in the midst of a long rebuild following back to back World Series appearances in 2014 and 2015, winning the latter year. Since 2015, the Royals have failed to make the postseason, let alone post a winning season. Let's check in on their rebuild by taking a look at three top prospects the Royals can expect to see on the big league roster in 2019.

1. RHP Scott Blewett

Scott Blewett is the No. 15 ranked prospect in the Royals' farm system, and while he's currently struggling in Triple-A, there's a real chance he makes the leap to the pro's, should he find his form. The 23-year-old has a 6.95 ERA this season for Omaha, and hasn't impressed during his minor-league career, but he is one of their more experienced prospects, so perhaps they give him a shot if he can show some improvement.

2. RHP Josh Staumont

As the team's No. 21 prospect, Staumont has top notch arm strength and good pure stuff. The Royals lack MLB quality pitching on their staff, meaning Staumont could make an impact in their bullpen later in the season. Through 13 games and 18 innings pitched at AAA, Staumont has a 2.50 ERA and 24 strikeouts, making him a potential future commodity and another fresh and exciting arm to add to the mix.

3. 3B Emmanuel Rivera

The No. 18 prospect in the Royals' system, Rivera is currently playing at the Double-A level. He's slashing .279/.322/.390 with 1 homer and 19 RBI across 36 games. He projects better as a defensive player than an offensive star, but he could certainly be a useful bench bat for the Royals this season.
