Fans in Ann Arbor were left puzzled when star point guard Zavier Simpson was dealt a one-game suspension last month. Well, the details behind the punishment were just revealed, and they are genuinely concerning.

Reports claim that Simpson crashed the car that belonged to Chrislan Manuel, the wife of Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel after the Wolverines' loss to Illinois in January.

That isn't even the worst part of it.

According to MLive.com, Simpson lied about his name AND whether he was behind the wheel when the vehicle collided with a utility pole just hours after Michigan's aforementioned loss to the Fighting Illini.

Per a police report, Simpson told authorities that his name was "Jeff Jackson Simpson" and that he was merely a bystander walking down the street when he "noticed" the crashed car.

These details really make you wonder why the Wolverines' standout facilitator was only suspended for one game. Perhaps Michigan didn't have all of the details at their disposal at the time.

It goes without saying that this isn't a great look for one of the faces of college basketball.

Simpson is averaging 12.7 points and 8.2 assists for the underachieving Wolverines this season.
