Yandy Diaz Accusing the Yankees for Hitting Him on Purpose is Pure Absurdity

After getting hit by a pitch on the left wrist, Rays third baseman/outfielder Yandy Diaz called out the Yankees in his postgame presser Sunday. He insisted that reliever Chance Adams plunked him as retaliation for hitting two homers off them last weekend in Tampa.

According to Diaz' own manager, Kevin Cash, the accusation appears to be total blasphemy. The skipper believes that Adams was just trying to make a pitch and missed his target. It must be noted that earlier in the game, Rays infielder Daniel Robertson also got hit a by pitch from the Yankees' Chad Green.

Though there could be some bad blood developing between these two teams with all the recent buzz, this could all be the result of what should be a highly competitive divisional race in the AL East among the Yankees, Rays and Red Sox. Rivalries are at their best when they are heated, and there is nothing wrong with Diaz trying to stir up some controversy, as the Yankees and Rays have both looked formidable this year.
