One of the most intense rivalries in college football will be played Friday in Seattle at the home of the Washington Huskies, who will be hosting their in-state rivals Washington State in a battle for state supremacy and pride.

The Washington Huskies have won the last six Apple Cups, and lead the overall series 73-32-6. This year, they're 6-5 and have had a couple of close games against ranked opponents, including a 35-31 loss against No. 14 Oregon and a 33-28 loss to No. 6 Utah, showing that they have what it takes to compete against big-name programs. They just haven't been able to finish the job on most occasions.
Meanwhile, the Washington State Cougars are also 6-5. Led by Mike Leach's famed Air Raid offense, the Cougars have put up the ninth-most points per game in the country, with 41.5, while quarterback Anthony Gordon leads the nation with 4,920 passing yards, which is nearly a thousand yards more than the next-closest quarterback.
