After three weeks of being on administrative leave, former NBA player and University of Kentucky alum Walter McCarty was fired from his job as head coach of the University of Evansville men's basketball program due to a violation of the university's policy.

McCarty, 45, allegedly has had several run-ins with the Title IX law, with many reports involving cases of sexual misconduct.

Fans were hoping that McCarty could help bring the team out of its slump and back to the way they were playing in the beginning of the season, the fast paced, 3-point shot happy team. With McCarty fired, interim HC Bennie Seltzer will be the main coach the rest of the season.

This is big news for all fans of Evansville. Before McCarty was put on leave, the team was 9-4 (including beating #1 ranked Kentucky, his alma mater), and since then the team has been 0-6 under the guidance of Seltzer.

While this is a huge blow to the University of Evansville, McCarty brought this upon himself, allegedly getting warned last year about his off-court issues and going through training as well. Now, his actions have cost him his job.
