VIDEO: Urban Meyer Gives Ezekiel Elliott Major Vote of Confidence Amid Cowboys Holdout
By Parker White

NFL players have been reporting to training camp over the last couple of days, but there's one guy in particular yet to show up NFL fans everywhere have their eyes on. Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is holding out for a new contract, hoping to get a major payday. Plenty of pundits are criticizing Zeke for his decision, but his former college football coach, Urban Meyer, gave him a ringing endorsement. Take a look:
.@ColinCowherd: Would you worry about giving Zeke the world?@OSUCoachMeyer: We have a saying at Ohio State, your best players have to be your hardest workers… We used to call Zeke the best player in America without the ball. He was the best blocker. I know that’s in him. pic.twitter.com/G65TiUNxHF

So, if Meyer had the power to trade for or sign him to a lucrative contract, Elliott would likely be the highest paid running back in the league by now. Meyer went on to say that Elliott is the hardest worker and best player he's ever coached.

I'm not even disputing all of that. However, as a professional, we are talking about a player who has had countless off-the-field problems and has already been suspended. You want to pay that guy big money?
It would actually be more news if Meyer criticized Elliott. Instead, we got that same ol' coach speech about how great this player is in every aspect.
