For years, New York Knicks fans have speculated that if given the chance, their team would have picked Stephen Curry with the eighth overall pick in 2009. However, he was picked at No. 7 by the Golden State Warriors, and the rest was history. Today, Curry acknowledged on the "All the Smoke" podcast with former Warriors Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes that he was, in fact, hoping at the time to be drafted by the Knickerbockers and to play under the bright lights at Madison Square Garden.

Woah! Knicks fans everywhere must be incredibly upset hearing about this, as they instead drafted Jordan Hill afterwards, who was only on the team for part of his rookie season before being traded. He never played more than 26.8 minutes per game, and hasn't played in the NBA at all since 2017.

Meanwhile, Curry has been incredibly loyal to Golden State, having been with them his entire career, winning three NBA titles and two MVP awards while setting numerous records along the way.

Curry was already known as a premier shooter coming out of Davidson College, but nobody could have predicted how he would help revolutionize the very way the game is played, pushing every last team away from post-ups and toward the long-distance barrage. A player of Curry's capacity surely would have changed the Knicks' fortunes... but alas.

Hey, maybe they can swoop in when he's a free agent in 2022? Keep on dreaming, New York.
