The New York Mets were trying to make an animated video to get their fans excited for Mets baseball as the holiday season kicks into high gear, but ended up creating one of the most bizarre Twitter videos we've ever seen. Led by Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso, who in this video are depicted as an anthropomorphic squirrel and polar bear to match their nicknames, this video on the Mets' official Twitter account goes right into uncanny valley territory.

The video starts with Jacob deGrom pitching to a tree, and that is followed by CGI squirrel Jeff McNeil rolling a snowball down a hill, which is then picked up and hit for a "home run" by CGI polar bear Alonso while a captive audience of Mets players and coaches as (dead, wiry?) snowmen admire the blast. Make sense to you?

While the effort and spirit is there, you can't deny that seeing McNeil and Alonso as computer generated animals with the graphical quality of a PS2 game is a surreal sight.

There's nowhere to go but up for the Mets at this point. Suddenly declaring your rotation that features Rick Porcello and Michael Wacha the best in the league doesn't look like the lowest point of the offseason, now does it?
