If you weren't already following the NCAA Lacrosse Tournament, Memorial Day Saturday would have been a good time to start. Virginia lacrosse attacker Ian Laviano netted a dramatic game-winning goal in double overtime to upset No. 2 seeded Duke and send Virginia to the National Championship.
Sound familiar? What a sports year for the 'Hoos!
Laviano punched it in off the pass from just outside the crease in the fast-developing play, capping off a thrilling 13-12 victory.
At one point, Virginia was down 12-10 with under a minute remaining in regulation, but they scored twice in the final seconds, including an equally dramatic goal from Laviano with just 15 seconds to go.
He finished with four of Virginia's 13 goals on the game, needing just seven shots.
