Urban Meyer Reportedly Top Priority Target for USC
By Michael Luciano

USC head coach Clay Helton is basically a dead man walking, as it's almost a certainty he is headed for the axe after another disappointing season in LA.
Because USC should be wiping the floor with the rest of the Pac-12 South, they need to aim high for their next coach. Their No. 1 priority would be a home run hire if they can pull it off, even if it is extremely unrealistic. USC is gunning for former Florida and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.
Urban Meyer is “undoubtedly" USC’s No. 1 choice & USC will do "whatever it takes to get him” as its next coach, sources told @Stadium. “We think the guy that can do it is Urban,” source said. "He did it at Utah, Florida & Ohio State, but the question is if he’s really interested"

Meyer retired from coaching after the 2018 season, taking both a role with the Ohio State athletic department and with FOX as a college football analyst.
Meyer went 187-32, good for an .853 winning percentage during his time with Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State, picking up three national championships along the way.
Meyer has remained adamant that he is retired from coaching, even though there have been some whispers of him snooping around the Notre Dame job should Brian Kelly get canned.
"Notre Dame is a national championship caliber program, but Brian Kelly is not a national championship caliber coach."@finebaum believes the Fighting Irish should go after Urban Meyer.

There's nothing wrong with shooting for the stars, especially when you're USC and the program has been stuck in the mud for years now, but this might be a bit on the fantastical side and not grounded in reality.
