Unpredictable Seahawks Trading up for Pass Rusher Darrell Taylor is a Warning Shot at Jadeveon Clowney

The Jadeveon Clowney free agent market slowed down in a hurry, and now that the NFL Draft is here, the star pass rusher's asking price can only go down. That's certainly what his most recent employers, the Seattle Seahawks, are hoping for.

And they whipped their offseason chess match into high gear by moving up in the second round of the draft to snag Tennessee defensive end Darrell Taylor.

You're move, Jadeveon.

Clowney wasn't the least bit impressed with the last reported offer Seattle sent his way, which was admittedly the lowball variety based on his perceived market value. But markets, as the coronavirus crisis has shown us, are a funny thing, and with Clowney still unsigned and with few obvious suitors out there swimming in cap space, the Hawks are turning the tables by making it clear they're 100% ready for a future without ol' Jadeveon.

And that might be exactly what it takes to get him back to the negotiating table and agree to take less money. Well played, John Schneider.
