We're through Week 7 of the 2019 college football season, and there are still 12 undefeated teams standing. Among those teams are quite a few surprises that have made some serious noise this season. With that said, let's take a look at some of the most surprising undefeated college football teams left.

1. SMU

Head coach Sonny Dykes' first season with the SMU Mustangs left a lot to be desired. He finished 5-7 on the year and lost all ranked games except for one against No. 17 Houston. Dykes' second season has been much better, as he's stunned everyone to go 6-0 on the season so far, including a win against No. 25 TCU. It won't be making great leaps in the college rankings, but this is a great step forward for SMU.

2. Baylor

Baylor continues to make great strides under Matt Rhule. With a 6-0 record, there's a possibility that Baylor can win 10 or more games this year. It could even be considered a serious threat in future seasons if it can manage to win games against ranked opponents Oklahoma and Texas down the stretch.

3. Appalachian State

When Scott Satterfield left Appalachian State, many wondered how the team would recover. However, they haven't skipped a beat as new head coach Eliah Drinkwitz has led the Mountaineers to a 5-0 record thus far. With no ranked opponents on the schedule, it's possible that Drinkwitz could lead the team to an undefeated season in his first season.

4. Minnesota

Minnesota has been phenomenal in head coach P.J. Fleck's third season. The team is 6-0 thus far, just one win away from tying its win total from 2018. Minnesota plays three ranked opponents down the stretch, so, likely, it won't finish undefeated. However, it most certainly has taken a step in the right direction.

Also undefeated: Alabama, Boise State, Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Wisconsin.
