One of the brightest young stars in football suffered a scare that sent shockwaves throughout the sport this weekend, and we now know the next step in the process.

During Saturday's game against Mississippi State, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a dislocated hip, eerily similar to the one that ended Bo Jackson's career.

On Sunday, team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Lyle Cain released a statement revealing that Tagovailoa flew to Houston on Sunday night in order to undergo hip surgery on Monday.

The most important thing to take from Cain's statement is that he expects Tagovailoa to make a full recovery.

After taking a hit from two defenders in the closing minutes of the second quarter, Tagovailoa fell to the turf face first, resulting in a bloody nose. The team training staff attempted to assist him off the field, but it was to no avail, as the quarterback couldn't put any weight on his right side.

Head coach Nick Saban actually had backup Mac Jones warming up on the sidelines, but ultimately decided to throw Tagovaioa on the field for one more series. That decision proved to be costly for both Saban and Tagovailoa, who entered the game with an ankle injury.

Tagovailoa had been touted as the potential No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. But with his junior season over and surgery upcoming, it's unknown exactly how much that will affect his stock.

That's not important right now. The health of Tua Tagovailoa is, as he prepares to recover from a very serious injury. We will keep you updated once details are released post-surgery.
