Latest Tigers Injury News Proves Braves Won Shane Greene Trade
By Jack Murphy

The Detroit Tigers are coming off a year where they finished with the worst record in all of baseball at a horrid 47-114. Typical of any underperforming ball club, they decided to sell at the MLB Trade Deadline to acquire prospects that might help them compete in the future.
The latest news surrounding prospect Joey Wentz, whom the Tigers acquired from the Atlanta Braves for Shane Green, proves that Braves are they winners of this deal. According to Grant McAuley, Wentz underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this week and will be out for 14-16 months.

The Braves traded for Greene as they were in desperate need for bullpen help. While he is not among the elite pitchers, Greene is a solid relief arm. He finished 2019 with a 2.30 ERA and 64 strikeouts.
Wentz was the No. 8 prospect in the Tigers farm and seemed like he could be a valuable piece in the future. Now, however, he will not be able to play until somewhere in the middle of next season.

The Braves have re-signed Greene to a one year deal to hopefully be a reliable piece in an improved bullpen. The Tigers however, seem to be destined for another stretch of being at the bottom tier of the league.
