What a tough night for the AFC South.

In the Houston Texans preseason contest against the Dallas Cowboys, veteran running back Lamar Miller suffered what looked to be a knee injury and was carted off the field. While fans crossed their fingers that Miller might've only suffered a scare, the Texans reportedly fear the worst.

Miller was expected to be the Texans' bell-cow, as he's been the last several seasons. Thankfully, the teams acquired Duke Johnson from the Cleveland Browns this offseason as insurance, and should the Texans' belief prove true, he'll be thrust into the starter's role he so desperately coveted with his former employer.

Johnson has always shown glimpses of greatness, but there's no guarantee he can provide the same consistency as Miller. The 2018 Pro Bowler was the perfect compliment to Deshaun Watson in the backfield, and even provided some confidence in the passing game as a blocker.

Now, should they be without Miller long-term, more pressure will be placed upon Watson to lead Houston to an AFC South title all on his own.
