On Saturday night, Thompson allegedly told a woman he would "slap the (expletive) out of her" and even threatened to shoot up the school. Thompson has denied making any of these threats.
On Monday morning, head coach Jeremy Pruitt revealed the decision to suspend Thompson was a school safety issue.
"Bryce Thompson is suspended indefinitely while the process continues. We hold our student-athletes to a high standard. The safety of all students is our first priority here at Tennessee," Pruitt said.

The woman reportedly told police that she and Thompson have been dating for several years, and that the argument began after she found fake eyelashes belonging to someone else in his dorm room. She also alleged that Thompson has a bad temper and previously punched walls during arguments.
Due to these claims, as well as other witness statements, police opted to take Thompson into custody.
