Taysom Hill Should Absolutely Be Drew Brees' Backup Over Teddy Bridgewater

The New Orleans Saints have their starting quarterback in Drew Brees for the 2019-20 season, but the backup spot is up in the air. Most expect Teddy Bridgewater, who impressed during spot chances last year, to retain the job this season.

But, it's not crazy to think that Taysom Hill should be QB2 moving forward, especially after the way things have played out during preseason ball.

Hill is such a valuable weapon for the team, that the Saints force him onto the field even when its inconvenient. They have him play at tight end, receiver and even have him return kicks. His ability to make plays with his legs, combined with his improved throwing ability, makes him an interesting candidate to backup Brees.

This preseason, Hill has only helped his case for the backup spot, especially against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The third-year pro went 11-of-15 for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while also running for 53 yards.

Hill is elusive and could give the Saints a different element than their norm if Brees were to go down with an injury. There's no question Hill is not Brees, but the Saints should not be looking for another Brees. The Saints should be spicing up their offense as much as possible, utilizing the talents of their best players, Hill included.

Bridgewater is a solid quarterback, but he hasn't looked good of late. The same can't be said about Hill.
