The New Orleans Saints' season ended in agony yet again. This time, it was a Kyle Rudolph fade in the corner of the end zone that sent them packing, and there was just a bit of officiating controversy tossed in for good measure.

Lost in the cacophony of the aftermath, though, is that the Saints' heartbreaking losing ways have now reached record-setting levels.

With their 26-20 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, they became the first team in NFL history to get knocked out of the postseason on six straight games decided by just one score.

Adding insult to injury is the fact that they have now lost three straight elimination games on the final play, becoming the second team to achieve such a feat, following in the footsteps of the gobsmacked, Brandon Bostick-led 2013-15 Green Bay Packers.

It's one thing to lose a close playoff game every now and then. It's quite another to do it with the ruthless consistency that the Saints have for the past few years.

They simply cannot catch a break to save their lives. It's as though they're playing with a massive curse hanging over their heads, and there's no end in sight.

Drew Brees may be the record-holder in many prolific passing categories, but this string of narrow nonsense is why he's not widely considered the GOAT.
