This Russell Wilson-Cowboys Trade Seems Insane But Could Actually Happen

The brilliance of Russell Wilson often shields how the Seattle Seahawks go about their business. In short, the 31-year-old superstar, despite his ridiculously expensive contract, is (or should be) one of the most untouchable players in the NFL. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that the franchise won't consider dealing him in the near future.

In the wake of rumors which claimed that the Seahawks shopped Wilson to the Cleveland Browns prior to the 2018 Draft, a fresh report from Pro Football Talk asserts that "it's only a matter of time" until Seattle trades the six-time Pro Bowler.

If this insanity does manage to come to fruition, expect the Dallas Cowboys to be one of the first teams that calls up Seahawks GM John Schneider.

The Cowboys' contract dilemma with Dak Prescott grows messier by the week, and we hold no doubts that they would consider unloading the 26-year-old signal caller if Wilson becomes available.

However, any trade for Wilson -- even if Prescott is included in the package -- would require Dallas to fork over a shipment of draft picks. Two first-round picks, two second-rounders, one mid-round selection and Dak should be enough to persuade Seattle to comply.

The Seahawks wouldn't be financially committed to Prescott, as they could let him walk as a free agent after one season under the franchise tag. Further, the organization would expedite a roster reboot by acquiring a boatload of draft capital.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, would become a perennial Super Bowl favorite, as 77-year-old owner Jerry Jones looks to capture another championship with a seasoned leader and electric offense before he steps down.

Trading Wilson would go down as one of the most boneheaded moves in NFL history. The least the Seahawks could do is acquire a young QB that's done nothing but win since he entered the league in 2016 and a glut of draft picks for their troubles.
