Insane Trade Rumor Involving Seahawks, Browns, Russell Wilson, and 2018 No. 1 Overall Pick Surfaces and it's BS

There aren't enough words to describe the brilliance of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. The 31-year-old superstar is a perennial MVP candidate who puts the Seahawks on his back year in and year out. Without him, the franchise would crash and burn.

In short, Wilson is one of the few untouchable players in the NFL. However, NBC analyst Chris Simms doesn't necessarily believe that was the case, even as recently as two years ago. During an episode of "Pro Football Talk," the former Tampa Bay Buccaneer posited a ridiculous trade rumor that supposedly involved Wilson ahead of the 2018 Draft.

Per Simms, Seattle offered the six-time Pro Bowler to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick, presumably to select Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold.

There you have it, folks: the dumbest take of 2020. It's growing increasingly difficult to stomach the maddening viewpoints we witness on daily sports debate shows, but this has no business being on national television. The people that Simms "trusts" need to be exposed for believing such malarkey.

The Seahawks have made some questionable decisions during Wilson's reign under center, but no team in the NFL is stupid enough to trade a gunslinger of his caliber for an unproven college star. This shouldn't even be a discussion.

At the time of this rumor, Wilson had led Seattle to the playoffs five times in six seasons as the starter, and had already helped the organization win a Super Bowl. While there's something to be said about the former third-round pick's greatness not receiving proper recognition, most would say that he became untouchable after his superb rookie campaign in 2012.

The Seahawks were never going to trade Wilson. Let's hope we'll never have to repeat that.
