Royals Lineup

With no designated hitter, Alex Gordon moves back to left field and hits third. The long-time Royals outfielder went 2-for-3 against Max Scherzer and two innings of the Nats' bullpen. In the other corner is Jorge Soler, who will try to bounce back from a 1-for-4 showing.

On the mound for Kansas City is a struggling Jakob Junis. On the season, Junis is 4-8 with a 5.58 ERA in 18 starts.

Nationals Lineup

The Nationals go as Anthony Rendon goes, and he's is in the lineup hitting third for Washington. After a 1-for-3 showing on Saturday, Rendon is looking to build on an impressive first half. The third baseman is slashing .304/.388/.612 so far this season. Trea Turner leads off for the Nats, ahead of Adam Eaton, Rendon and Juan Soto.

On the hill is Patrick Corbin, who has been one of the best pitchers in the league through his last three starts. Corbin, the Nationals' big free agent acquisition, has a 1.29 ERA in his last 21 innings of work.

The Nationals continue to climb in the NL East standings, currently sitting in second place. The Royals, meanwhile, continue to sit near the bottom of the AL Central standings at 30-60.
