Ronald Acuña Sets Lofty Goal for 2019 Season as He Aims to Join 30-30 Club

Atlanta Braves third baseman Josh Donaldson was the hero Friday night, as he came through in the bottom of the ninth inning with a bases loaded single to drive in Ronald Acuña Jr. and walk it off against the Washington Nationals.

Donaldson may have came through with the big swing, but it was Acuna Jr. who set the table all night, going 3-for-4 with a walk, RBI, two runs scored and his 19th stolen base of the season.

Acuña has been running a lot more on the base paths, racking up six stolen bases over the last seven games. If he keeps it up, the 30-30 club isn't out of reach.

And that's the game plan for the 21-year-old star.

“30-30 is the goal,” Acuña quickly answered without the usual assistance of an interpreter.

We marvel at Acuña's offensive approach and light tower power, but his speed is one of his five tools and he's been fully displaying it as of late. So, how many more bags and homers does he need to reach this goal?

With more than two months left in the regular season, Acuna needs seven home runs and 11 stolen bases to become the fourth player in Braves history to join the 30-30 club.

Not a bad thing to be in the same company as Hank Aaron, Dale Murphy and Ron Gant (who did it twice).
