Richard Sherman has never been one to keep his opinions to himself, and he did not hold back when it came to his perspective on whether Kevin Durant should have played in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The veteran cornerback even went as far as calling out the takes that someone could have kept Durant off the court as complete BS.

Durant would injure his Achilles early in the second quarter Monday night, clearly demonstrating that his body was not ready for the toll of an NBA Finals game. But the 49ers DB is right on the money when it comes to KD's dilemma: If you love the game and dream about leaving the best possible legacy behind, then you're going to play even if given merely a ghost of a chance. That's the competitive gene that the two-time reigning Finals MVP has through and through. You can't simply turn it off like a light switch.

Could the Warriors staff have tried simply to persuade KD that playing was not the best idea? No; they either clear him or they don't clear him. And in the end, Durant is an elite player with a drive to win, and that determination was going to land him on the court once he heard that he was given the medical go-ahead.

Sherman speaks from experience, and if he has an injury that he believes he can play through then you better believe he will be on the field. The same can be said for Durant, who despite not being 100% put his own body on the line to try to achieve the ultimate goal of a three-peat and the all-time status that comes with it.
