Gone are the days of Dez Bryant with the Dallas Cowboys. After the team parted ways with their former star receiver, they added Amari Cooper at the trade deadline last season and signed Randall Cobb to an affordable deal via free agency this offseason.

But a relative unknown in the receiving corps is making a huge impact in Cowboys' OTAs.

Reggie Davis has impressed the most, according to Dallas wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal.

“He was probably our most improved (receiver),” said Lal, via dallascowboys.com. “If we go back to when we got him last October/November, he’s probably the most improved guy on the team. He made a big jump this week.”

In particular, the former Georgia Bulldog made a name for himself when coming out of college in 2017. Despite running a 4.31-second 40-yard dash, Davis went undrafted, signing with the Atlanta Falcons. He would later jump to the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles before landing in Dallas.

So how is Davis making his stay in Dallas worthwhile? Well, according to Lal, he's been able to use his speed to separate himself from defensive backs.

“He’s really understanding how to use his speed," said Lal. "He’s always been fast, but how to truly use it. How to stop better, how to set up DBs, he’s doing a great job. And he’s finishing plays with catches.”

Earning reviews from your position coach will certainly help later on in the summer. However, with the likes of Cooper, Cobb, Allen Hurns, and Michael Gallup on the team, Davis will have to consistently keep it up in order to earn a spot on the 53-man roster.
