New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso has quickly risen through the ranks of likability in New York sports. On Tuesday, Alonso continued his incredible personal PR work during the pandemic, tweeted out a video of him thanking dozens of medical professionals for the work they have been doing in recent weeks to contain the coronavirus' unprecedented spread.

Generally, we're predisposed to talk about Alonso's heroic performances on the field, but the real heroes here are the medical professionals in hospitals working their butts off for their communities.

These people work day in and day out to try and save people from the novel coronavirus, under dire and dwindling conditions. They risk their lives daily going above and beyond the call of duty to do what's right. You won't find heroism like that on any baseball field.

It's time for everyone to take Alonso's example and thank the medical professionals who are doing incredible work throughout this terrible pandemic.
