Patriots Reportedly Offered a 1st-Round Pick for Trent Williams But the Redskins Declined
By Kevin Aquino

Redskins offensive lineman Trent Williams has yet to report to training camp as NFL preseason rolls on, and it looks like the Super Bowl champs attempted to acquire him as he endures a standoff with his current team.
The Patriots made an offer centered around what Washington seems to want most -- a first-round pick -- but the Redskins declined and continue to hold onto the seven-time Pro-Bowl selection.
The #Patriots were willing to offer a 2020 first-round pick to the #Redskins for LT Trent Williams, per @kevinsheehanDC and @JPFinlayNBCS. Washington said it was not enough.

The Redskins would likely have to be blown away by an offer to go through with a trade, as they seem content with keeping the nine-year veteran on the roster. New England isn't the only team hoping to get a deal done with Washington, which comes to no surprise since Williams is one of the best offensive tackles in the league.
There are no reports of whether the Patriots would be willing to include more than the 2020 first-rounder, but Williams' stock fades with each day he spends away from the team.
Washington has told multiple teams this summer it is not trading 7-time Pro Bowl OT Trent Williams, per sources. Williams has held out of camp, but Washington hasn’t flinched. Teams repeatedly have called about Williams, teams have inquired, and so far, teams have been rebuffed.

Holdouts are a staple in today's league, with Williams joining Ezekiel Elliott and Melvin Gordon as the top names to extend their offseason this year.
