What Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones might have thought was funny and playful has further soured the already strained relationship between the team and superstar running back Ezekiel Elliott.

After Jones responded to questions about Elliott's contract extension with "Zeke who?," Elliott's agent Rocky Arceneaux made it very clear that he and Elliott weren't on board with the joke and found it incredibly disrespectful.

This is certainly not going to help bring Elliott, who is currently working out at a training facility in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, back into the fold.

This offseason remained a peculiar time for Zeke to stick his foot in the ground and demand a new contract given his incident with a security guard at a concert in Las Vegas. The emergence of fourth-round pick Tony Pollard as a dynamic runner has only given Jones and the Cowboys more leverage.

Just as some foolishly optimistic people believed that Zeke would cave and join the team once his season starts, it appears Jones' mouth has added yet another wrinkle into what was already an extremely tense negotiation.
