The Kansas City Chiefs made the best decision they've made in franchise history to draft Patrick Mahomes back in 2017. The young quarterback can become an even bigger legend Sunday by bringing a Super Bowl back to Kansas City.

But regardless of the outcome, Mahomes is going to land a record contract for his next deal.

How Long is Patrick Mahomes' Contract?

The Chiefs can either pick up his fifth-year option for 2021 and keep costs low for another year (keeping him on board for another two seasons), or just offer Mahomes a record extension this offseason to delay the inevitable.

Mahomes is reportedly projected to land a $200 million deal with an average annual value of $40 million. Then there is the guaranteed money, which could be as high as $120-$140 million.

Mahomes would set a new record with every aspect of such a contract, and based on the market, it would be worth it for the Chiefs.

The Atlanta Falcons gave Matt Ryan over $100 million in guaranteed money on his five-year, $150 million deal. Mahomes is on a whole different level of talent, and is much younger than Ryan. That means he could earn two record contracts before he retires.

We all know what Mahomes is going to make. The only question remains when the Chiefs want to officially begin this new phase with the star quarterback.
