Packers Sign DL Dean Lowry to Contract Extension

The Green Bay Packers are rewarding their own contributors, as they extended a valuable part of their defensive line from last season.
Defensive lineman Dean Lowry agreed to a three-year contract extension, keeping him in Green Bay for the foreseeable future.
The #Packers have signed DL Dean Lowry to a contract extension, the club announced. Lowry was due a base salary of $2.025 million in the final year of his deal and had a cap number of $2.12 million. It's possible this deal lowers his cap. He played 65.6% of the snaps in '18.

Lowry is a valuable part of the Pack's defense even though his stats might not reflect the production. Last season, Lowry played in all 16 games, recording 31 tackles, 3 sacks and a forced fumbled in that time.
The lineman's new deal pays him over $20 million in new money, which equates to just less than $7 million annually. The contract is an impressive raise for a player slated to make just more than $2 million next season.
The #Packers signed DE Dean Lowry to a 3-year extension worth $20.325M in new money ($6.775M per year), source said. One of their core players.

The new money likely signals a raised expectation going forward in the team's new-look defense.
The Packers have a new head coach this year and with that should come a renewed outlook on the coming season. Aaron Rodgers can lead the offense, and it's now up to Lowry and the rest of the defense to step up their game.
