Ohio State Being Ranked No. 5 in AP Poll Adds Even More Pressure for Georgia Transfer Justin Fields

Out in Columbus, it's another season of high expectations for the Ohio State Buckeyes. What else is new?

Though Urban Meyer is out and Ryan Day is now the head coach, big things are expected of this team. And the man taking over the offense is none other than former 5-star signal caller Justin Fields. The ex-Georgia Bulldog was officially named the starter this week, which was no shock.

But, now that the Buckeyes are ranked as the AP's No. 5 team in the country, you had better believe there's even more pressure added on him.

After deciding to leave Georgia because he didn't want to waste any additional time being Jake Fromm's backup, Fields will now be starting for one of the top teams in the nation. He got what he wanted, but man, the spotlight will be on him in an even bigger way now.

There's no denying Fields is rated as a generational talent, but keep in mind he's also just a second-year player and spent most of his freshman campaign in Athens on the sidelines.

For the Buckeyes to have a shot at getting back to the College Football Playoff for a shot at a national title, Fields will have to deliver.

If Ohio State succeeds, No. 1 will be the first to get a pat on the bottom. But, should the Buckeyes falter, fans across the nation -- especially in Ann Arbor -- will be ready to let him have it.

For now, we'll have to wait and see how Fields answers the call, but there's no question he'll have to quiet his critics early on.
