Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Justin Fields will be thrust right into Ohio State's starting lineup as Week 1 creeps around the corner.

Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day announced today the sophomore transfer will command his offense at the start of the 2019 NCAA Football season.

Fields will fill in a Dwayne Haskins-sized void after transferring from Georgia, where he served as a backup to Jake Fromm. Fields put together 266 total yards and threw four touchdowns in 12 games for the Bulldogs.

The Atlanta native was expected to get the starting job, beating out Chris Chugonov, Daniel Vanatsky, Gunnar Hoak, JP Andrade and Jagger Laroe. Fields was one of the highest-rated quarterbacks coming out of high school, and can explode on a national stage with one of history's most successful college football programs.

Fields is just one of several star-studded talents that Day has to work with despite saying that "stars don't mean a thing" when it comes to recruiting. With Day's mindset, it's safe to assume that Fields has earned his spot on merit rather than reputation, which has to be encouraging for Buckeyes fans.

Ohio State will take on the Florida Atlantic Owls on Aug. 31 in their home opener.
