The NFL reminded everyone of its ridiculous rules regarding player dress code and the colors they're allowed to wear, as Cleveland Browns wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry were told to remove their customized cleats after halftime today or else they would be ineligible to return to the field.

Now, both receivers' comments on this bizarre situation have been publicized, adding to a lot of the confusion circulating around why the league ordered them to change their cleats.

Basically, OBJ described how he maps out the cleats he plans on wearing every week during the offseason based on the color jerseys his team is going to wear.

Apparently, the Browns switched their main jersey colors from white to brown in the middle of the week for their matchup against the Denver Broncos, and OBJ was left without a comfortable pair of cleats at his disposal, except for the cleats that appeared to have the face of the Joker painted on them, because of course those would be most comfortable to OBJ.

As far as Landry's explanation goes, he stated that Nike had approved his golden slipper cleats before the season started, so he thought there wouldn't be a problem with them at all.

At least the NFL is continuing to zero in on the issues that truly matter to the sport of football, right? Focusing on banning a fun pair of cleats is always more imperative than solving the atrocious officiating in almost every game that leaves viewers infuriated.
